Triumph R3 Roadster

By erick vasquez1(Owner), Feb. 25, 2016

3 times across the USA with no fail.Handling is good for a heavy cruiser, easy to clean.shifting a little clunky but with care is good. ride comfort (1-10)is a 6.5,with better rear shocks would be an 8(this is in reference to poorer roads).Very stable but in twisties turns must be executed with certa... inty.Man bike feels solid. MPG's are fair, with moderate riding 34-40mpgs have gone 180 miles before a fill up.The R3 Roadster jewel here is lots of power on tap, passing is actually safer because of the available power at all freeway speeds, no more hail Mary passes, sheer power keeps cars from trapping you into troubled situations. 3k rpms is 80mph in 5th. Very good cruiser. The engine is smooth & vibration is minuscule, the engine is faster than the frame use your head. For a way over powered cruiser it handles fine (7.7) being reasonable. The rocket is the brutal cruiser ever one has been looking & asking for. Brakes are good 7.5. Dealer familiarity with bike over all is poor but most all brand name shops are lazy & low knowledge.Bike stance is good, seat comfort is good. Passenger seat is good, handle bar position is good, peg placement is good.recommend passenger floor boards to protect exhausts.Huge over sight-no emergency flashers.Self canceling directional would have been nice.rear view mirrors are good but fastener not so great. Best day riding 750 mile day, worst 200 mile day. Value - @ $15,500 out the door value is good beyond this price the Honda Valkyrie becomes a highly competitive alternative except you will trade off for less power with the Valkyrie and lose the Rockets brutish and more easily maintained good looks but gain the Valkyries better handling and the Honda's 36 years of proven Confidence & reliability in the Gold Wing engine.Triumph's R3 is only in its 12th year of production and not without some hiccups in the tranny and final drive dept up to 2011 said to have been worked out..I feel Triumph building this bike is a good thing & on par with Honda building the CBX 6 cylinder inline and Valkyrie, the question is will the riding community appreciate what Triumph is doing with this bike. Lastly Triumph at times shares the Harley Davidson amnesia when it comes to standing by their product, Triumph loyalties at times falters between customer satisfaction & the almighty dollar. Remember Triumph your new customer walk ins are a direct result of product/service fail from the last brand name motorcycle company. While Honda service is about on par with everyone else their product quality from the factory ensures many fewer trips to the dealer for warranty repair service, stand by your product and soar or don't and promote struggle and possible fail- the choice is yours,Honda ever awaits with open arms and stellar products with higher prices, are you listening Honda? Personally I'm hoping to see Great things from Triumph. Read Full Review

a lot of motorcycle for the money

By Fan of Triumph(Owner), Feb. 5, 2020

this bike isn't for the faint of heart if you really want to push your riding ability to the next level this bike is it. not a distance motorcycle but for 200 mile days this bike is outstanding. 2.8 zero to 60 great brakes is incredible in the twists; tire choices are very limited and yes it does ... go through tires expect a new rear tire each year with the front last 1.5 seasons. Lastly- i prefer the classic look of the older rockets vs the new sport bike rocket. Read Full Review

Awesome power

By Peter Kirwood(Enthusiast), May. 21, 2014

After riding many other cruisers including Harley's and boulevards Yamahas and Hondas and seriously I have never ridden anything that comes near the triumph rocket three in torque up over mountains ranges even two up the effort required from the bike made the ride effortless ,even after a three hu... ndred mile ride I still was quite surprised how comfortable the big quality cruiser is .definately the only cruiser that gets a perfect 10 Read Full Review
