Introduction
KTM is an Austrian motorcycle manufacturer which is known for its popular off-road dirt bikes enters the world of a sportbike with its new KTM 1190 RC8 R. RC8 is the only superbike for KTM in the market till date. This bike is very attractive in look which can catch the eyes of all the viewers.
Like other superbikes, KTM 1190 RC8 R also comes with an aggressive look but it still features the typical styling of KTM. The oval-shaped look is quite different which makes this bike differentiates from others. The long headlight is set artistically at the front fairing along with a stylish visor. The rearview mirrors are integrated with LED side indicators which are neither mounted on its fairing nor on its handlebar. The mirror comes from behind the visor of this bike which gives it a unique identity.
KTM 1190 RC8 R Design
KTM 1190 RC8 R has a fully digital instrument console that features an orange-colored LCD, fuel gauge, 2-trip meter, bar-style tachometer, odometer, clock, and digital speedometer. The indicators are placed in the dashboard which provides important information to the rider.
The fuel injection of 1190 RC8 R makes the effortless cold starts and smooth power delivery. A cylinder bore and a stroke of 105 x 69 mm make 1190 RC8 R oversquare. It has a fuel tank capacity of 16.5 liters, which is designed with 3D sharp cuts on it. The five-spoke alloy wheels and semi-exposed engine follows the all-black theme and suits the orange color of its exposed steel frame. RC8 R has a perfect front end to help you attack the various twists and turns with surgical precision. RC8 R has no lights, turn signals, or ignition key.
KTM 1190 RC8 R Engine
KTM 1190 RC8 R is powered by a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1198 cc of the engine, V-Twins, 4-stroke engine which is the most powerful in the world which produces a maximum power of 173 bhp at 10250 rpm and a maximum torque of 123 Nm at 8000 rpm. This engine is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with one gear down and five gears up-shift pattern.
Being a fast performer but still the bike manages to give a respectable fuel economy all thanks to its lightweight. 1190 RC8 R provides a mileage of around 10-15 kmpl. The lightweight of RC8 R also helps to achieve an impressive power to weight ratio. The bike is one of the most powerful V-twin engines available worldwide. 1190 RC8 R picks up smoothly in any gear and can reach the top speed of 280km/hr. The aerodynamic design improves the acceleration of the bike. The engine reflects a high level of refinement which is similar to any 4-cylinder engine.
KTM 1190 RC8 R Performance
KTM 1190 RC8 R is just 173 kg in weight which is quite light in weight with the aluminum wheels. A liquid system is also there to keep the temperature under control. Moreover its a street bike so it can be run on the normal road. Its frame is made of powder-coated chrome-molybdenum steel. The bike never disappoints with its performance rather it enjoys lightning-fast throttle response. The short gear ratios help the bike to catch pace easily. There is no need for frequent gear shifts as its maximum torque arrives at 8000 rpm.
KTM 1190 RC8 R reaches 0-100km/hr in less than 4 seconds and 0-200km/hr in less than 7.5 seconds. 1190 RC8 provides a mileage of around 15 km/liters. RC8 R provides a strong low and mid-range. The power delivery is linear and it gets into serious power production after 7000rpm. The twin throttle bodies give it an instant throttle reaction. It works well with its anti-hopping clutch which is perfect to supply torque amount to this bike.
KTM 1190 RC8 R comes with a very comfortable seat which gives the rider a proper comfort on long journeys. The bike has many setting options which increase the level of comfort. The bike comes with two ways height adjustable seat, footrest, and handlebar. To provide a firm grip to the knees, its fuel tank offers nice cuts on it. The handlebar, hand, and foot levers can be adjusted at different angles according to the rider comfort. The road visibility is quite clear but it's a little difficult to read small instrument panel.
Suspension
The bike comes with an adjustable suspension system at both ends. RC8 R has a WP inverted 43mm telescopic forks at the front and gas-charged mono-shock absorber at the back with swing arm. RC8 R comes with twin-disc brakes of 320mm at the front with radially-mounted 4-piston brake calipers. The single rear disc brake of 220mm has a two-piston caliper.
KTM 1190 RC8 R delivers strong and linear acceleration, each electronic shift sending you even faster toward the next bend. It has also got a Brembo radial caliper braking system with racing brake pads for fade-free deceleration even in the toughest conditions.
The KTM 1190 RC8 R comes with a broad front tire, fender, and big disc plate at the front which gives macho look to this bike. The five-spoke alloy wheels along with the semi-exposed engine follow the all-black theme. The black color theme along with the orange color exposes the steel frame. Seats
There is a big gap between the rear cowl and rear tire which gives naked looks to this superbike. The rear cowl comes with two horizontal layers of the LED taillight.
